Warm Winter

We've had a really warm winter here in MN lately and it's been so nice. As you can see from the pictures below, I was able to get away with just this thick shirt/light jacket and a thin long sleeve shirt and I wasn't cold. Ace and I took a stroll while the sun was setting. There is finally no big puddle of water in my alley so I'm able to take pictures without prying eyes again! It was pretty muddy though so I might wait a bit longer before I go back with nice shoes :)

Gals and Fries

This is my outfit from a blog gal happy hour at Sweeney's in St. Paul. Great wings, great fries and great friends. You can check out what Alli and Maggie wore as well because they are much faster at posting than me. Emma and Maria were there too but since they didn't post pictures yet, you can just imagine what they were wearing. Cute to be sure :)

Outfit Details:
Top, necklace - Forever 21
Skirt - B. A Resale Shop
Cardigan - Old Navy (old)
Tights, shoes - Target

I picked up this skirt at the Two Birds styling event for B. Resale shop. I really hope they do this again because it was really fun. Picture two of your most fashionable friends with a HUGE closet of cool things. Got it? Ok, now they scour their closet for things that would look great on you and they have tons of different sizes. Sound good so far? Now, you get to take all of the items you liked home (you have to pay for them but still). Your fashionable friends are going to let you have them! How often does that happen? Plus, since I told them in advance that I was coming, they had done some of the work for me and already had outfits picked that they thought I would like. How cool?! I also got to meet fellow blogger and super sweet reader Beth there! Cate also stopped by and picked up an AWESOME jumpsuit. So jealous. Pop over to Megan and Nora's blog to be updated on the next event :) fingers crossed!

Side note. With any Two Birds event, I hung out there pretty much the whole time and had a lot of laughs. Megan, Chris and I went decided to go out to dinner after and then ended up at a dance bar. Super fun=super hangover. The next day I got sick and have been ever since. So thanks Megan and Nora for my continuing illness :)

For the Love of Love

2.10.12c

I picked up Maria and headed over to downtown St. Paul Friday night to support our friend Emma and her fantastic poster. Emma and her two friends Bill and John made a poster to support gay marriage.  Emma is a great illustrator and designer. She is the one who drew my picture on her blog! Look for a possible future collaboration!

I'm not one to get political and I'm very open to people having their own beliefs. However, something like this is a big deal to me. I have a cousin who is gay and her wife is the sweetest person. They are even going to have a baby in a couple of months! Straight people apparently get to decide everything in this world. I don't think it is anyone's place to decide who can and can't get married. If 2 people love each other and want to commit to that person, I think they should be able to. It doesn't "ruin" marriage to let same sex couple gets married. What a load of crap.

Off of my soap box now. :) The event was a set of posters created by local artists with the theme of For the Love of Love. I loved seeing all of the different takes and the amount of creativity in the Twin Cities. I bought 2 different posters and I'll be sure to share them with you!

Kelly Green

Speaking of things that I made at my super awesome craft night with Megan, this headband is one of them.  All I did was take a piece of fabric and sew some thin elastic to each end. Done and done :)

Simple Lace Earrings

As promised, here is the (really) simple DIY for the lace earrings I made.

lace
Megan found some cool lace trim at the thrift store. I think it's a good idea to look for this kind of design. The shapes within the lace are "self-contained" so to speak.

lace2
Sorry for the blurry picture. All I did was carefully cut out two of each shape and trim off the excess. Since these designs are dense, I didn't feel the need to put fray protector or anything like that on them.

Attach an earring wire and you're done!

Easy as that!

Craft Night

Drinking with friends and making crafts.  What can be better I ask you? Nothing.

I went to Megan's the other day and made a bunch of fancy pants necklaces and earrings. I'll show you a really quick DIY tomorrow for one of the items we made!

Grumpers

I was home sick yesterday and really want to be home today. Sadly, I 'm not so I'm grumpy. The other day, I wore clothes and took pictures of them. You're welcome.

Outfit Details:
Top - Swap via Lindsey
Jeans - JC Penny's
Necklace - Target
Shoes - DIY

PS, a couple of you asked how my glitter shoes held up. After this outfit I can tell you that everywhere but where my feet bend stayed glittered.  Right where your shoe bends in the front is now void of glitter. I might try to re-do it or try it on shoes that don't bend so much :(
