Trip Wishlist

Another Friday, another list of favorite things. However, these are things I'm thinking about getting for my trip! It is only a month and a half away so it's about time to start thinking of things to get before I go.  I have my practical things already like a backpack, money belt and a couple of other essentials. Now, I just need those additional fun extras!

Wish 1: A camera bag that doesn't look like a camera bag. I feel like you are a bigger target for thieves if you have a bag that screams there is an expensive camera in it. This one from Jo Totes would be perfect!

Wish 2: A practical yet stylish wardrobe. The pictures I take on my trip are going to be around for a long time and I don't want to look like a bum in all of them!

Sartoriography wrote 2 really great posts here and here about how to pack for travel. I'm definitely going to be looking in my own wardrobe for pieces like these. Who am I kidding, I'll probably go out and buy some new stuff that is much easier to mix and match than what I currently have. I don't want to buy too much though because I want to have room to purchase cool European fashion items :)

Wish 3: A great coat. I'm thinking of a nice trench coat in a khaki color. It will go with everything and if the weather gets cool or it rains, it will be great to have a lightweight coat. (this one is Burberry which I could never afford but I love the color and that it's double breasted. Inspiration!)

Wish 4: Some great accessories like scarves. These will be small enough to roll up in my backpack but will change up some of my basic pieces every day. I have a couple that I'll bring and maybe I'll pick up one or 2 over there :) (These are both from Forever 21).

This is what I have so far. Anyone been on a long trip and have any suggestions of things you found useful?

  1. I definitely agree with packing lots of neutral items and then making each outfit different with light accessories (those scarves are adorable!). And I have and love that Jo Totes bag - it's cute and practical :)

  2. Definitely minimizing on shoes! Picking 1-2 versatile pairs makes for so much more suitcase space. Also, I buy used magazines at Half Price Books for $1-2 dollars in preparation, rather than full-priced ones at the airport. And, if flying Delta, dipping their signature biscoff cookies in tea is a tiny pleasure!

  6. Definitely bring a few scarves that good with all your outfits! Make sure the pants/skirts/bottoms all work with every shirt. When I went to Europe last year I felt I had some outfits that I could only wear one way. And a couple good pairs of shoes. It rained so much my shoes would get soaked but nothing else to wear!

  7. I am the worst (over)packer ever. So, just go with what everyone else is saying! I love that camera bag, though!

  8. Oh those biscoff cookies are the best! My flight is out on Delta so I'll be sure to eat my share :) I will take your recommendation about shoes too!

  10. I'm going to have to get it then I think. I need to tone down the patterns or keep them simple. Thanks for the rec on the bag! I found that style via your lovely blog :)

  13. Yeah you're totally right. I was thinking of throwing in a vintage dress or 2 but now I'm wondering if it will be too limiting. I have to look into better shoes. thanks for the suggestion!

  14. i just returned from london, and a classic and well-fitted trench is always ideal, especially in temperate european cities for spring. for me, i choose one main neutral (either gray, navy, or black), pack only that specific neutral, then add some brighter accents and some fun jewelry. in london, it was lots of black and gold, with red lips.

  15. I pack this way too...neutrals with just a couple easy-mix statement pieces. Saves space but allows for creativity!
