It's a Date!

I am sorry for the lack of posts but I am not feeling well at all. Today is my second day home sick from work and I'm bored but not feeling well enough to go anywhere.

I headed over to the It's a Date Sale to hang with Megan, Nora and Amanda. I found a couple of cute things that should be popping up on here in the near future. I can't wait for their next one! It's always so fun to hang out with them. So, here's what I wore and thanks to Nora for the pictures!

Trip to the Minnesota History Center

Hi all! I am so excited that it's the weekend! This is a quick post because I'm dashing off to the It's a Date - The Other Great MN Get Together sale. If you're local, they are open tonight and tomorrow so go check it out!

Maria, Emma, Allison and Maggie and I all went to the MN history center to check out an exhibit on the history of undergarments. It was a lot smaller than we expected but it was fun to check that out and still have time to see a bunch of other exhibits too. Here are a bunch of iPhone photos of the stuff we saw!

Places I Love - Ollu

ollu sign

I hope everyone had a nice weekend. I didn't have one so I want to live vicariously through you. It's Monday... I just wanted to share with you one of my favorite places in my neighborhood. No, it's not a restaurant or clothing store. It's a self-serve dog wash. Some of you might be thinking, "Why would I pay someone to wash my own dog?" For people like me with hydrophobic, large dogs, it's a godsend. Ace HATES baths. He also weighs 65 pounds. Try to get a freaked out, heavy dog into your tub at home and tell me how it goes.

Doesn't he look happy?

I also love Ollu because of the people that work there. The owner, Jodel, is so nice. Most of the workers know Ace and say hi to him when we come in. Plus, it's a super cute local business within walking distance of my house. They have great specials all week which makes it more cost effective. They also have full service grooming and nail trims :) They even have a doggie blow dryer but Ace is a wuss and it scares him so we stick to towels. Best, best part? They clean it up for you! All the dog hair goes down their drains (not mine) and the water is easily pushed into a floor drain.

If you live in the Twin Cities, head over there! I live only a couple blocks away so give me a ring and we can grab dinner or a drink too!

Thrift Week Volume 6 - Last but Not Least

Ok, so maybe this is my least favorite of the outfits for thrift week. Titles can't always be right or even relevant.
I love both of these pieces separately but when you put them together, it feels a little 80's secretary. Oh well. Not much to say today because I did fitness bootcamp for the first time yesterday and this morning it's hard to walk. Plus, I have training all weekend so I get to work for 12 days straight. I need a drink just thinking about it...

St. Anthony Falls

Ace and I wandered over to the St. Anthony Falls park. It takes you right up to the falls and they have all these plaques describing the history of Minneapolis, the falls, the energy generator, etc. It is neat because you are right in the middle of the river so you get some great views. The river used to be the life blood of the city from providing power and transportation for all the mills as well as access all the way down to the ocean. It is so interesting to see how it looked back then!

My outfit isn't that exciting but I was so happy to be able to wear jeans, I didn't care about the top. This is a new shirt and one of my only non-thrift purchases in recent memory. It felt so weird paying full price! I love the lightness of it and the fun floral print.

Photo Safari

You know what is better than a tripod? Well, a lot of things. However, I'm talking about getting your picture taken by people who do it all the time. Icing on the cake? Those people being really sweet, funny and all around great gals. Maria, Annie and I hung out on Tuesday and journeyed off to the St. Paul side of the river to take a few pictures. It was really nice to hang out with them and see how the pros do it. There are going to be a lot of pictures in this post because Maria took some with my camera and hers and Annie also snapped some candids on her camera too. Head over to their blogs and check out the snaps they took!

We also hung out with Emma on Monday who took us to this cute pub in St. Paul called Sweeny's. I stuffed my face with delicious wings and drank one too many ciders. I had a really great time and can't wait to hang with her again. Is it super dorky that I'm so happy to be making friends?

Thrift Week Volume 5 - Dot Dot Dot

This is actually the first time I've worn both of these items. Sad right? I think it is the bargainer in me that buys things even if they aren't quite right. A shirt that is too short for your tastes but you tell yourself you will wear it with tons of high waisted skirts? A skirt where the elastic is too tight to fit over your hips so you have to put in over your head? Throw them in the cart! Regardless, I think this turned out pretty cute. I think some sort of belt would have been cute with this too but remember, my accessories are on strike during thrift week.

PS please excuse my hair. This is what happens when I throw it up in the car and decide to take it down right before taking pictures. Result? A flat, kinky, sweaty mess. Also, can someone tell me how people get those super cute twirly skirt pictures? Mine didn't turn out at all!
