Friday Favorites - Trip Shopping Addition

This may sound kind of dorky but I've already started a list of things I want to buy WHILE on my trip. I LOVE souvenirs and some of the items I got when I lived Europe in 2004 are still some of my favorite possessions.  I will be traveling with only a backpack again but I'm hoping to be a lot more savy this time around with what I buy.  Here are some things I've thought of so far. I'd love to know if you have any ideas too!

Wish 1: A beret from Paris. I've always wanted one but have yet to buy one. Since it's an item I already want and it's so typically French, it would be fun to get it there! I love how Carrie wears hers so if it doesn't look super lame on me, I'm going to pick one up in either navy or black!

Wish 2: Small items that remind of each place I've been. I have this "shelf" on my wall that was a Coke crate in it's previous life. Since it used to hold bottles, the holes are quite small.  I would love to fill this with the tiny items I bring home from this trip. The only things I can think of so far are stereotypical souvenirs but I'm keeping my eye for things that strike my fancy!

Wish 3: Street/Vintage Art: I love going to markets and street vendors and checking out their wares. One of my favorite items that I bought in Europe last time was a painting of a bull fighter that I gave my parents as a gift. I feel like street art or vintage posters would be a lightweight but lovely thing to have in my home!

Wish 4: Small gifts for loved ones at home. My parents will be watching Ace the entire time I'm gone so I'm going to be bringing home something great for them. I'm thinking some wine since we are planning to bike around some vineyards in Tuscany. My niece is turning 1 a couple weeks after I get back so I'm going to be on the lookout for something adorable to give her.

Wish 5: One super cool clothing item that I couldn't get at home. I'm thinking either a vintage dress/top or something from a store that we don't have in Minneapolis.  I would love to have something that I could wear that would remind me of my trip. Not sure what I will end up getting but I can't wait to start looking :)

Anyone have any ideas of things that I should be on the lookout for? I'd love to hear what you think! Your packing tips gave me some really good ideas.

  1. My sister in law found the coolest jacket in Paris - it was kind of like a denim jacket but kind of like a blazer, it's hard to describe, but I've always been envious of her! I hope you find some amazing things, either from this awesome list or other items too!
