White Out

Kristina over at Pretty Shiny Sparkly created a new batch of challenges for us bloggers to try out. She challenges us to take on the latest trend and make it your own. Last week was color blocking. I really wanted to try it but didn't take pictures in time. So, I will have to try that trend some other time. This week it's White Out. I had a really hard time with this challenge. I'm not crazy about my outfit but I gave it whirl. I don't have any white pants, shorts or skirts. So, I wore my only white dress. It was freezing here today so I put a long sleeved shirt, shawl and tights on. I tried to go for different textures since I didn't have that much to work with!

5.3.11b

Outfit Details:
Long sleeve shirt - Thrifted (target)
Dress - old, not sure
Tights - Kmart
Shoes - Target
Shawl - Thrifted

I really need to figure out how to accessorize better. I think that is one downfall on this blog and with my style in general. Any tips would be appreciated!!

Check out how everyone else accepted the challenge on Kristina's blog!

  1. I think you pulled this off really well by incorporating different shades and textures. White is really hard to do when it's cold and dreary outside, but your outfit is even weather-appropriate. So I say WELL DONE.

I've been wanting to do a Blogger's Do It Better, but they always seem to sneak up on me and I can't get an outifit together soon enough...booohoo. Next time.

Hmm, I quite like your combination. Especially your tight choice--I would have went with white and that would have been a disaster. Yours look really great with the dress. What color is that?

Would love it, if you would stop by and see how a 45+ year old handles “White Out”—you might get a good chuckle anyway! See you there! http://stillblondeafteralltheseyears.com/2011/05/white-out-change-it-up-outfits-modeled-by-women-over-45/

  5. Thanks! I used to have white/cream tights but I threw them out. All I had was these grey ones. I thought they looked as good as could be expected :)

  6. I would love to see what you think works for me! I have a good idea of some silhouettes that work for me but you guys are so great at remixes. Can't wait for your next sale!

  7. I really like the long shawl/dress combo. It's very little house on the prairie meets Ghost Whisperer... (Sorry if that sounds weird I've ben instant viewing Ghost Whisper and I've got JLH's long flowing white dresses on my mind.) You look ver cute is my point.
I think this would look really nice with a large pendant necklace. I think something turquoise or sky blue would compliment your hair color really well. But is it still 'whiting out' if your accessories are colorful?

  8. I've totally been watching Ghost Whisperer on instant streaming too! She always has to dress in those nightgowns! Who wears that to bed? I'm not sure about wearing colored jewelry. I think turquoise would look great! Thanks for the tips.

  9. You mix of textures is what gives this 'fit so much umph! This season I will dare myself to purchase an all white dress-and watch as it becomes covered in filth within the first 30 minutes of me wearing it! LOL! But I love this unique look:-)
