Loss
Hey, sorry for the radio silence around here. I found out that my cousin passed away on Wed night after an almost 5 year battle with cancer. I just haven't felt like posting pictures or outfits. Hopefully I will be sharing pictures of my trip, outfits and Halloween real soon. Until then, enjoy this picture of Ace bobbing for treats last night.

Walking Tour
Maria, Cole and I went on a historic walking tour a couple weekends ago. I know, I know I'm just getting around to posting it. It was a really interesting tour of all of the places that F. Scott Fitzgerald lived, hung out at or wrote at.
Oh, and don't worry. I'll get around to the pictures from my trip eventually :)

Quick Update
Well, you know how I said that I was going to schedule a few posts while I was on vacation. Call me a big liar because I never did it. I don't mean to offend you all and my blog (yes, it has feelings) but posts were a little low on the priority list. Packing for a long weekend of walking around, nice dinners, and a wedding makes for a heavy suitcase. I had a really great time and will for SURE be sharing lots of pictures with you all. My friend Mel looked SO beautiful and it was a fun and intimate wedding. Some hilarity ensued but I will be sure to tell you about that in another post. Plus, she said she loves my blog so I have to say nice things right? (j/k Mel, you know I love you). It is trips like these that make me wish all of the lovely people in my life lived just down the street instead of long plane rides away. That is the punishment for going to school and grad school far away. I finally got my iPhone back! So, if you don't follow me on Twitter (you totally should.), here are a few instragram pics from my trip. Oh how I missed you iPhone. Blackberry pearl, you can rot in the trash where you belong.
Hi. I'm in Delaware. I drove through 5 states on my trip!
My first authentic Philly cheesesteak
Could have used more whiz but it was delicious. PS, was that a mushroom? I saw this and got really scared that my whole sandwich had been filled with them... I hate mushrooms.
Capital building in Philly (I think. Philly people, don't hate if it isn't)
Delicious biscuit sandwich in Arlington, VA
My first ever Sprinkles cupcake. SO GOOD! It was pumpkin with cinnamon cream cheese frosting.

Pre-cut
I got a haircut on Friday before my reunion and it turned out really cute! I can't wait to show you guys. This picture is from last week and I'm going to pat myself on the back for this one. I really love how this outfit turned out. I, like Emma, was looking for a way to wear a cream pleated skirt. Then this lovely Veronika posted this helpful little inspiration. So, I pinned it for later and finally got around to styling it with my own pieces! So happy it's Thursday because that means tomorrow is Friday. I have 2 going away parties, Junk Love on Saturday (come see me!) and Sunday is brunch for our friend who is going to get married in Indonesia and then moving to Canada.
Outfit Details:
Shirt - Target (recent)
Skirt, slip, belt - Thrifted

Simple
This outfit isn't spectacular but sometimes it takes me a while to get it right when the seasons start to change. I don't wear awesome outfits every day and sometimes it's nice to wear something casual. It sure beats heading out in sweatpants :) Plus, I wanted to wear my new favorite shoes and I was stumped at the time on how to wear them. You know that if your mom and dad both like something and your dad even calls them sharp, it was a good purchase. PS, I didn't move or anything, this is my parents house.
New favorite shoes.
Outfit Details:
Scarf and coat - Old Navy (both old)
Sweater - Thrifted (originally Target I think)
Belt - Stolen from my mom
Jeans - Target
Earrings that you probably can't see - Etsy
Shoes - Two Birds via the last It's a Date sale

TSNW - Who Wears Short Shorts?
Final post of Try Something New Week (unless I post this other tutorial over the weekend). Did you get to try something new this week? I would love to hear about it no matter how small!
This is a big one folks. I am wearing shorts with tights. This outfit has nothing to do with this pin or this pin at all. Nope, not one bit. One other thing, I need your advice! I have my 10 year reunion tomorrow and I have no idea what to wear. I know I want to wear something that screams me but I don't want to be too dowdy or slutty. Well, I don't really own anything slutty but you know. So, what should I wear? Any ideas would be great. You could also point me to a previous post or outfit of mine you like too. You are the best!
Outfit Details:
Shirt, shorts - Thrifted
Tights - Old (Target?)
Shoes -DSW (gift)
Earrings - Etsy

TSNW- Green Machine
I just got home from bowling with my coworkers. It was a team bonding thing and I expected it to be really boring. However, I had a ton of fun! Everyone was having a good time and I had a lot of laughs with a new coworker. I could see myself hanging out with her outside of work. I also joined E-harmony the other day. Did I tell you this already? I have contacted a bunch of guys but I'm only emailing with 2 right now. I'm pretty excited about it but I will let you know how it goes. I also get really impatient when they don't write back. I tried to be all suave and wait about 18 hours to write back but maybe I should have left them waiting longer. Oh well. No games. I will just wait until thet write back and assume the wait is because they are so fun that their schedule is packed. :)
The new thing today is my jacket. I'm pretty proud of this thing. I found it at Savers and it's a North Face jacket made out of gortex. I am now waterproof. I've been looking for a green cargo jacket for ages. This isn't really the material I was looking for but I really like it. And, it was a measly 19.99. I bet full price this puppy would have been at least 80-100 bucks. Score!
Outfit Details:
Coat, belt -Thrifted
Dress - Originally H&M, got on Ebay
Boots, leggings - Target
Cardigan, sunnies - old can't remember
PS, I know I need a new belt but this one just goes with everything!

TSNW - Jazzercise
Have you ever walked into a place and immediately wished you had looked into things more closely or wish that you could just pretend you had never been there? That's how I felt tonight at aerobics. I was the youngest person there by at least 20 years. Low impact aerobics is only for people with an AARP card? No one told me. The instructors and the ladies in the class were really nice to me and it was a good workout for my weak and out of shape self. I will be going back but I might bring my mom. They might be checking for AARP cards at the door...
What else did I do new today other than take aerobics you ask? Well, I'm wearing a brooch which is an accessory I'm still trying to figure out. You already know how good I am with accessorizing. Not. haha oh Wayne's World. Well, I'm also wearing lipstick in these pictures. GASP! A fashion blogger wearing lipstick? Why I never! Quick story about lipstick. I have been looking for a sort of lipgloss/lipstick for the past week or two. I went to 2 different makeup stores, tried on lots of colors and finally found one I liked. Sold out. Second verse same as the first. Second place, the ONE color I picked was sold out. Maybe I have good taste? Yeah, that's it. I really have to master putting it on one of these days too. My top lip is much smaller than my bottom so when I try to smush my lips together to spread the lipstick around, I end up looking like a clown. Anyone else have this problem or are you all experience women unlike me?

Skirt - Salvaged Strawberry via It's a Date sale

Try Something New Week
Inspired by myself and my brand new wreath making skills, I thought I would go crazy and try a couple of other new things. They aren't huge or monumental but small changes to see how I like them.
Today, I tried using an eyebrow powder. Maria gave it to me to try and I thought I would give it a whirl. I think it makes my eyebrows much darker and a little red-er. I'm not 100% sure if I like them but here's to day one of trying something new! Also, I hand knit this scarf! I've been very crafty lately and this was my first time using circular needles. It took a long time but I'm proud of what I made and I know this will keep me nice and warm in the months ahead. I signed up for some community ed classes and it will be keeping me busy! Today is my first aerobics class! Tuesdays are pilates, Wed is French (which I'm really excited about) and Fridays are weight training. I will get fit yet!
Maria asked me at the swap if trains ever go by behind my house. So, here is concrete proof that they do!
Outfit Details:
Cardigan, skirt - thrifted
T-shirt - H&M (old)
Tights - Target?
Shoes - DSW (gift from Shawn)

DIY - Wreath Tutorial
Sorry I've been a bit of a slacker this week with posting. I thought I would share a quick tutorial on how to make your own fall wreath. I am by no means an expert but you get to benefit from my trial and error.
Here is what I used:
-Metal hoop
-Thin but somewhat sturdy wire
-Wire cutters
-Wired ribbon
-Fake leaves
-Fall-ish fake berries and acorns
I found all of this at Joann Fabrics so just wander the wreath section and you can find what you need. There were cool branch wreaths that I'm thinking might be nice to try next time. This metal hoop was only 3 or 4 bucks so I thought I would try that first. I only used 1 bunch of fake leaves for this even though I bought 3. There was plenty left over too so if you wanted to cover your whole metal wreath with leaves and not use ribbon, I think one bunch is enough.
1. I put the dodads on first so I could get the proper placement and spacing that I wanted. The second picture is a close up to show how I attached the acorns etc. I took a length of wire and wrapped it a bunch of different ways until it was secure. This was much easier to do for the berries and acorns because their stems were much thicker.
2. Once the dodads were secure, I tightly wrapped the ribbon around the wreath. Much to my dismay, one spool of ribbon only went halfway around the wreath. So, I improvised and put leaves on the rest of the wreath.
3. This is where it got time consuming and tricky. Like I said before, the leaves were much harder to secure than the dodads. Also, when i was arranging them, I wanted some leaves to be vertical and some horizontal which was hard when I was trying to attach them. Just play around with it and step away from it when you get frustrated. I wanted to throw this thing in the trash about 3 times before it was done.
4. This is the step where you zhuzh. I added leaves into the ribbon at this point so it wouldn't look like 2 different wreaths slapped together. I think holding it up against a wall really gives you an idea of what you want to add and where.
5. Hang on your door and act humble when people ask you where you bought your great wreath. Then you can smirk and say, "Oh this? I made it."
