I don't know about you, but I don't like to make New Year's Resolutions. You get all gung ho at the beginning of the year but then if you don't accomplish that goal, it's a big let down. That being said, I want to have some goals that are somewhat attainable to work on during the new year.
-Get it better shape (I think this sounds more achievable than lose weight)
-Do more crafts/DIY projects
-Get some friends over to help me decorate my place. (I'm looking at you, Megan Bird)
-Do more stuff with my dog (I want him to listen to me more first!)
-Really get out and enjoy festivals/restaurants/activities that Minneapolis has to offer
-Go exploring in my state a bit more (and share the adventures with you!)
-Do at least 2 craft shows, try to get the word out about my business too!
-I can't believe I forgot, GO ON A TRIP!
Do those sound like too lofty of goals? I hope not! BRING IT 2012!

I didn't really do anything spectacular on this particular evening but I wore the first outfit to work and wanted to change it up. I just put on a fancier top... Does that count as day to evening? If so, you're welcome. Oh, and I added a belt. I'm so awesome!

Happy Birthday Blog!
I started my blog right around Thanksgiving last year but my first outfit post was one year ago today! I thought I would do a little round up of my favorite outfits. I'm going to get a bit sappy and say how great it has been over the last year. I'm so happy to have met wonderful people, new friends and being able to share my stories with all of you. It still surprises me that people actually read this! I'm also thankful for the community of people. My style has grown so much over the past year due to the fact that I get compliments and confidence from all of you. Plus, being able to see your outfits and get inspiration from other bloggers has been huge. I am so much more creative and comfortable because of your support. Here's to you and to another great year!
My first time pattern mixing! Also my first EBEW post!
I think this is one of my favorite pictures I've taken. Love this outfit too!
I've worn this same outfit multiple times since then. Don't be surprised if you see it again!
I love this dress so much. Stripes, green, 50's shape. What's not to love?
Another outfit I always come back to because I feel so comfortable in it!
Two of my favorite girls. It has been so fabulous getting to know both of you!
I just shortened this so get ready for a reappearance of this fab skirt!
Blogger meetup!
Our photo shoot right before Annie moved to Chicago :(
One of my favorite vintage dresses!
One of my recent favorites.
First time wearing shorts with tights!
The end! Thanks for everything and thanks for looking at this super long post!!

Craftiness
I am trying to come up with ideas of things to take up some time now that winter is here and the holidays are over. I scoured my pinboard for some inspiration and found some fun ideas to try in the next couple of weeks.
Clean out some old magazines or find some old books at the thrift store to cut up.
I have tons of scrap fabric. What a fun project to try!
More use for some old books. Maybe put these in an empty vase or hang them
A bit more ambitious but might turn out cool. Of course this would be of MN :)
Get a shirt from the thrift store, some dye. Done. (maybe)
Collect some cool doilies thrifting and maybe just sew them together?
This would be the most ambitious but would be really cool.
Check out my Pintrest board for links!

Holiday Outfit - Christmas Eve
Merry Christmas Eve everyone! I am way behind so I'm making this quick. I have to give the dog a bath, wrap presents, go to the grocery store to pick up ingredients for my scalloped potatoes and head over to hang with my family. Our tradition is always to do it up on Christmas Eve with a big dinner and opening presents. Traditionally, Santa's day was Christmas day so we opened presents from each other on Christmas Eve. Can't wait!
Outfit Details:
Dress - Gift from my sister
Sweater - Thrifted
Tights - Target
PS sorry for the blurry pictures. I wanted to be in front of my tree and my camera wasn't cooperating.

Holiday Outfit - Festival of Lights
I forgot to post this yesterday so you can two posts in one day. I thought this bright blue sweater would go with my navy blue dress. Somehow, that didn't look right. Maybe it was just me. So, I paired it with this comfy black dress and called it a day. Happy Hanukkah!

DIY glitter shoes
As promised here are a couple pictures from my DIY shoe transformation. I had seen these on a couple of blogs and thought they were really fun. They are also 60 bucks. Not worth it in my opinion. I thought that I could make something similar for much less. Thanks to Alli's help via tweets, I found a cool tutorial which seemed really easy. Check out Alli's post too to see how her shoes turned out.
The only supplies you need are modpodge, glitter, ribbon for laces (if you use tie shoes), a paintbrush (I used a foam one) and shoes! I got my shoes at the thrift store for a cool 4 bucks. I got the glitter and ribbon for the laces at Joann. Oh, I also used a plastic cup to stir my glitter in. Just in case you don't have those floating around, add it to your shopping list. I added way more glitter after I started painting because it wasn't giving the coverage that I wanted. You can see what I mean in the second picture. Once the glitter to glue ratio was right, I let them dry! That was it. I made the mistake of doing the tongue at the same time because when I was trying to tie the laces, the sides were stuck to the tongue and it pulled a whole chunk of my glitter off. I probably won't redo it though cause I'm lazy :) Be careful of it getting to globby though. I have a couple of spots that it looks a bit chunky and it bugs me. If you have more questions, let me know!
Do you see the potential?
Too much glue, not enough glitter
Done! Not perfect but I think they're cute!

Holiday Outfit - North Woods Christmas
To all of my readers who celebrate Hanukkah, word on the street is that it started yesterday. So happy Hanukkah to you! Another day, another Christmas outfit. This is more of a rustic type outfit than the past two. I knew I wanted to wear my new favorite green tights. Then I pulled this plaid shirt and jean skirt out of the dryer and an outfit was born. Cool story about my cardigan. I was over at my Grandma's (mom's mom) this summer to help with her garage sale. I was upstairs helping her clean out some of the rooms aka asking if I can have things that are cool that she clearly doesn't use. I found a hall closet that had some some clothes in it and found this sweater. She said I could have it (yes!) because it didn't fit her anymore. What makes this double-y cool is she told me that my parents got her this sweater when they went to Ireland in the 70's. It was meant to be!
Outfit Details:
Shirt, skirt - Thrifted
Irish wool sweater - gift from my gran
Shoes - Two Birds Vintage
Tights - Target
PS. I just realized that this skirt is SUPER wrinkly. Welcome to my world. We love thrifting here but have a severe ironing allergy.

Holiday Outfits - Sparkle Trophy
I wore this little gem of a dress to Emma's birthday/holiday party. The unofficial theme was sparkle so I decided to take that and run. I headed over to Rewind Vintage in northeast Minneapolis and found this dress among lots of other sparkly things. Rewind is such a fun store and I am crossing my fingers about something the nice girl behind the counter and I were talking about. Head over to Alli's blog to see the beautiful cake that she made and her DIY sparkly shoes. I have a post coming up about that as well. The sparkly shoes. Not the cake. How do you top a cake with edible gold?
I think this dress will be great for New Years or for another fancy holiday party. You could also wear it to a work party or maybe you have fancy friends that show fancy parties like me. I won the unofficial sparkle trophy for having the sparkliest dress at the party. I'm still waiting on that (ahem). In case you were wondering, sparkliest is a word even if google doesn't think so.
